Disappointing Dons back to their old ways
A win and a draw in the last two games conjured up hope for the MK faithful. Unfortunately this was a false pretense for the events that were to unfold on Saturday afternoon.
The first thirty minutes were okay. Lots of possession as expected and even an opening goal courtesy of Danilo Orsi. From there on out the rest of the game was nothing short of a night mare.
Boring, slow, sluggish and no end product sum up the rest of the home sides performance.
You’d think once you take the lead that confidence would grow. To see the players pretty much give up was very sad to say the least.
Both teams were almost a carbon copy of each other in regards to playing style. Defensive frailties are ultimately what cost the boys from MK1.
That and a lack of fight. Is there really any harm to be done by playing with a bit more urgency to get the ball forward? You’d think so with the sideways and back rubbish we were subjected to after falling behind.
How many times have you watched a game of football where the trailing team are described by commentators as knocking on the door? My guess would be loads. To put it lightly MK Dons were barely tapping on the door.
Hopes were so high at the beginning of the season. Hopes that were quickly decimated by a woeful start under the stewardship of Mike Williamson. Despite managerial changes and the short lived up turn in form under Scott Lindsey, the players have continued to flatter to deceive.
