Could a formation change make a difference?

With a trip to Gillingham up next, I thought now would be the perfect time to consider whether a different formation could bring an up turn in fortunes. Both are fairly similar and facilitate for a change in defensive or offensive mindset. The key difference from our current set up of 3-4-2-1 is that both allow more attacking talent onto the pitch , especially in the case of the 4--3-3 option.  Both provide more defensive stability out wide when attacking, making sure full backs do not become exposed. One of the key changes of note would be pushing Gilbey back into a six or eight role. I feel he is more effective here and capable of marshaling the midfield from this position and driving standards. Regardless of whether this happens against the Gills or not, the thing I want to see most from MK is a relentless press and urgency to play the ball through the lines quickly.

4-2-3-1

4-3-3
